cover up post

A few weeks ago I started thinking about what to pack for an upcoming bachelorette party in Mexico and while perusing around online I came across a swimsuit coverup that I just had to have(pictured above from Asos). Now in all of my 35 years I’ve never bought or worn an actual coverup(except maybe as an infant when mom put me in some nice velour) so I decided now was the time to step up my game and step away from the cutoffs. In addition to being super cute, comfy, and quite freeing they also take up a lot less space in your suitcase which is a bonus in my book. Now if I could only find a way to shrink my shoes. Here are a few of my favorites.

I am a sucker for a good coffee table book and with so many to choose from it’s hard to know where to start. The pictures are so beautiful and inspiring that I often find myself with a cup of coffee in my sunroom just daydreaming.  In a day and age where we are so connected it’s nice to hold an actual book in my hand.  A beautiful book can add that little extra something to any space whether its as art in your book case (pictured above) or some light reading material in your powder room for guests (pictured above).

Hope you enjoy them as much as a do!

Wish list: Viva Las Vegas!

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014

I’m headed to Las Vegas this week, and in a perfect world I’d be taking along some new items with me to go with the fun and swanky atmosphere.  I really have no time (or mullah) to go shopping beforehand, but if I did the items below would be perfect options.  The weather will be in the mid-60′s, and at night it will get a little chilly.  I think you could mix and match these looks and wear everything year round.  Just throw on the leather jacket over the hot pink dress and pair it with some black tights for a cool evening, or go without the jacket or the tights for the spring and summer months.  See below on where to find these great looks!

Look #2 - black leather jacketblack and white print topblack and white nailbraceletsstudded clutchblack pump

P.S.Have you heard of Jamberry nails?  They’re nail wraps that you apply at home, and they last for two weeks on your fingernails and four weeks on your toenails!  They don’t chip, and you can pick from a variety of colors, designs and themes.  If you don’t know where to find them, click here to take a look and purchase!

I know it’s only February but all I can think about is warmer temps and Spring. I’m loving the new take on the flat shoe and how it can transition us into the new season. I’ve been coveting this new spin on the classic flat for a while now, but with these frigid temps the thought of exposing these piggies even just a little bit didn’t seem like the best idea for my already freezing extremities. I’ve always said the higher the heel the better, but the older I get I find myself being drawn to a little bit of comfort every once in a while. They have revived themselves and are ready to add a little spice to any outfit. Go on…give them a try!

Shop Love: Laura Lee Clark Interiors

Monday, February 24th, 2014

Happy Monday! For a while now, I’ve been wanting to check out the latest finds at a shop here in Dallas. I finally made a visit to Laura Lee Clark Interiors, and was blown away by the store’s unique mix of pieces. I’m a sucker for eclectic items that look like they were collected over time (instead of rushing out to fill an empty space with just anything that fits). Laura’s showroom provides great ways to display your pieces, and shows how to mix different styles to create that “collected” and unique look. I can’t wait to go back to see what the shop has to offer, but in the meantime I’ll covet the items below currently on display. It’s a must see shop for anyone who’s looking for a classic, timeless piece, or for anyone wanting good ideas for creating a high/low look with things they already own or things they find at an estate sale or discount store. Regardless, it provides inspiration and great eye candy for the home!

Love how she mixes this contemporary painting and credenza with more traditional lamps.

Maybe it’s my jewelry background but I LOVE these ring side tables.  They are so cool and one of a kind.

These chairs are so sleek and such a good scale that they would fit anywhere in your house. And don’t even get me started on that ottoman in the background…

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a hard time finding a fireplace screen that has style. I love the fact that this shop has a few selections in this department, because there are not many stylish options out there.

I noticed these bright and colorful prints from Megan Adams and have put her on my list.  You can see more of her work and learn more about her as an artist at www.meganadamsdesigns.com

Not sure about the size and if the dimensions would work for our dining room, but I would love to have this black and gold fixture hanging above our dining room table.

The brilliant item above could be used behind a sofa, in an entry-way, or really anywhere to add a bit of color and interest.

And I thought this table and the colorful accessories were great! I love anything gold and was immediately drawn to it.

If you have a chance to stop in to Laura’s showroom it is also open to the public and is located at:
