Memorial Day Entertaining

Thursday, May 22nd, 2014

Memorial Day is right around the corner!  And while first and foremost it’s a day to remember our fellow Americans that have served our country, it’s usually a day off work and an excuse to get together with friends and family.  It’s also a perfect day for patriotic colors for your get together. Here’s a little entertaining inspiration for your day with friends and family!

Home Tour: Napa, California

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014

Since I’m coming off a long weekend in the wine country, what better time than today to highlight an enchanting European estate in Napa, California.  Most of the homes in this area are up in the hills or hidden away, so I was intrigued to take a photo tour of a home that is currently listed for sale here. Sitting on 20 acres, this 10,000 sq. ft home boasts 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.  The grounds are truly stunning!  Can you imagine relaxing here with a glass of your favorite wine?  I know I can!

The decor of this home isn’t my first choice, but the home itself and the views are spectacular!  And it’s all yours for a measly $10,950,000. Check out the details and see more pictures here.  Even though I’m “wine’d out” from this past weekend, I would still have one more glass here and enjoy that stunning view!

R & R Bound!

Off for a little rest and relaxation, so I’ll be taking a few days off from the blog.  I hope you all find a little time to relax and enjoy this weekend!

Bar Cart Styling For A Summer Soiree

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

I’ve had a few requests for some “how to” posts, and I had so much fun putting this one together — Maggie, this one’s for you!  I have also included some chic bar cart options in case you’re looking to add a little style to your party (and in my case, a little practicality).  We got a bar cart to store bottles that take up too much space in our less-than-ideal sized cupboards.  Not only is it a good way to store your spirits, but it’s another way to add some chicness to your home.  You can move it wherever you want to make entertaining easier and more convenient for your guests.  Let’s start with an empty bar cart and go from there!

I found this brass/glass bar cart at a boutique here in Dallas, but I’ve seen some really great ones at antique shops for a steal, so check out your favorite local spot!

For this setup, I’ve chosen a natural wood tray to provide a base to place my bottles.

I sorted the bottles by height –tall in the back, short in the front.

Place your go to items on top + some fluff –here I’ve chosen green acrylic wine glasses from Crate & Barrel, monogrammed napkins, and some colorful flowers.

I’ve also added a clear acrylic pitcher for summer drinks, some straws, and lemons for another touch of color.

When styling, be sure to include all your necessities (drinks, glassware, napkins, and anything else you want your guests need to help themselves).  If there’s room left, add some novelty items like flowers, a framed photograph, agate coasters, crystal ice bucket, etc.

For this party,  I kept it simple. Sometimes less is more.
Set up is complete!

The Black And Gold List

Friday, April 25th, 2014

One of my best friends is getting married in May and this weekend is her bachelorette party and shower.  I was blown away when I saw the invitation, (the picture below does not do it justice) and thought I would plan today’s post around this marvelous invite.  The invite suggests all the guests wear black and gold (the greatest color combo, by the way) and masquerade masks are also encouraged.  It got me thinking….A.) What am I going to wear? B.) How amazing are these two colors together? C.) What a genius idea for a fun night out with girlfriends!  So, I’ve decided to put together “the black and gold list” to showcase how you can get your hands on this color combo!

With all the black I have in my closet, paired with any of my numerous pieces of gold jewelry, I should be able to find something to wear to fit with this theme; however, this post makes me want to go shopping for some new black and gold!  Have a great weekend, and if you decide to drink some champagne and dance on the table….well, that’s fine too! Cheers!

P.S. Briana does all kinds of invitations and party decor, and has done several for my group of friends.  Each and every one of them have been amazing!  I will be doing a separate post highlighting more of her work, but if you have a need for some one-of-a-kind invitations, shoot her an email to learn more (brianacarman@mac.com).
